Meet the team

In her own words:

National Youth Boys’ Choir is such an inspiring group of young people and it is a great honour to have been given this new role. The choir presents a special opportunity for boys to develop their singing as their voices change, in a supportive and exciting environment. I am excited to see what we can achieve as we continue to raise the profile of the National Youth Boys’ Choir as ambassadors for male voice singing in the UK and further afield.

Lucy grew up in Berkshire and went on to study music at Queens’ College, Cambridge where she won the Beament Prize for outstanding musical performance. There, she conducted two university orchestras as Assistant Conductor for the University Music Society, and sang with Trinity College Choir.

Lucy is a passionate music educator and conducts a number of local, county and national choirs. She has conducted the National Youth Choir of Great Britain Boys’ Choir since January 2018 and was appointed Principal Conductor in 2019. She has also worked as a section coach for the National Youth Choirs of Scotland.

In addition to two adult chamber choirs, the Abbeydale Singers and Reading A440 Choir, Lucy conducts the University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra and is Director of Cantate Youth Choirs in Hertfordshire. As Director of Music at Dartford Parish Church, she conducts the choir of semi-professional choral scholars. Lucy regularly runs singing workshops and conducts hundreds of children in annual singing festivals for massed primary schools around the UK. Most recently, Lucy has taken up the post of Head of Choral Music at Heath Mount School in Hertfordshire.
