Financial Assistance We believe that no young person should be prevented from being a part of the National Youth Choir because of financial barriers. All National Youth Choir activities are subsidised by the fundraising we do as a charity, but we still need some additional financial input from singers in order to deliver our annual programme of events. Through the kind support of our funders and donors, we offer a banded range of Financial Assistance Awards which are available to all members on a sliding scale based on eligibility. Financial Assistance can cover up to 100% of participation costs as well as provide additional support with things audition, membership and course fees, and associated travel expenses. What financial assistance is available? We have two separate financial assistance funds. For children, young people, and young adults who are financially dependent. For young adults who are financially independent - typically this status will only apply to National Youth Choir (18-25 Years) members To check whether you are financially dependent or independent, click below. CHECK THE CRITERIA 1. For financially dependent beneficiaries We offer free auditions and full auditions travel expenses to dependants who receive Free School Meals in the UK We offer banded Awards for auditions, membership, courses and related travel expenses to all dependants based on the gross joint income of their parent(s) or guardian(s) AWARD BANDS As factors other than income can affect financial ability to participate we also make Additional Awards, rising to 100% in exceptional circumstances. We consider factors including annual family expenditure, number of dependants and associated costs, and other family-specific circumstances. Additional Awards are made at the discretion of the National Youth Choir Financial Assistance Awards Panel. Financial Assistance recipients also receive travel expenses in the same proportion as their award. 2. For independent beneficiaries We have a separate fund specifically for independent members of the National Youth Choir (18-25 Years). There is a fixed number of awards on offer, equivalent to 50%, 75% and 100% of the National Youth Choir's Annual Programme Fee. Awards are based on applicants' gross income in the first instance. We also take other factors into consideration, including a personal statement. Recipients of awards also receive travel expenses in the same proportion as their award.
