Meet the team

My wife and I are inspired and excited by the work of the National Youth Choir. Our own children have clearly benefitted enormously from their participation in National Youth Choir activities. I was delighted to be invited to become a Trustee and the Chair of the Finance Committee of National Youth Choir in 2019; it has allowed me the opportunity to give something back.

I was a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral and have been involved in a wide variety of amateur music ever since. By background I am an accountant. Having attained a degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Lancaster, I joined Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in Manchester and then went on to work in Advertising rising to the position of Group Accountant and Company Secretary.

I was licensed as a Reader in the Church of England in 1999 and continue to be heavily involved in this role within the Macclesfield Team Ministry, a team of four local churches. I also help in other local parishes as the need arises.

For many years I have been associated with a number of local charities, either as a member of the business team (usually as treasurer) or as a trustee. These have included Age UK Cheshire East from 2006, serving as Chair from 2012 to 2019; the Board of Governors of the King’s School Macclesfield, participating as a member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee and Chair of the External Relations Committee; and a trustee of Heritage Opera, and Macclesfield Music Centre, providing financial leadership. As a member of the St Michael & All Angels’ Macclesfield Church Council, I have just completed fifteen years as Church and Team Treasurer. These various organisations cover a wide range of interests and activities, all of which are important to me personally. What more can we ask but to see success both for an organisation and for those they aim to help and support?
