How do I join National Youth Choir (18-25 Years)? If you're not sure whether to apply or not, I wasn't either and I'm so glad I did. I don't have a music education background but I auditioned anyway and I don't regret it. Each spring, we look for new singers aged 18-24 to join our choir. If you’re passionate about singing and want to develop your musical skills, perform a wide range of music and make new friends, we’d love to meet you! How do I join the choir? To join the choir, you will need to do a short, online audition with members of our music team - usually a conductor and a vocal coach - who are there to help you feel relaxed and sound your best. Our audition booking opens in early spring (usually April) each year, and auditions will take place at selected dates and times in May. We do not offer auditions to join National Youth Choir (18-25 Years) at other times of year. We’ll be in touch about the outcome of auditions by June, and singers who are joining the choir will be invited to take part in the programme of choir activities starting in September of that year. Auditioning to join National Youth Choir is free. To keep our auditions open to everyone, we rely on donations from supporters like you. You can keep auditions free by making an optional donation to support this initiative when you sign up. How to book your free audition If you have had any difficulties booking your audition, you can find instructions for using the singer portal on our website: Guide for using the singer portal to book your audition Follow us on social media and join our mailing list to get updates about when our audition periods start What happens at an audition? The audition will include performing your own choice of song (unaccompanied, from memory), vocal exercises, listening exercises & score-reading and an informal interview.
