Next steps for singers attending a summer course

  • Look out for news about summer concerts: Our summer end-of-course concerts will go on sale to parents on Wednesday 17 June. We will email all summer course attendees with more details.
  • Buy your purple polo shirt: All singers must bring an NYC purple polo with them on the course. These must be ordered in advance as they are not available to purchase on the course.
  • Prepare a solo song for your course: There will be masterclass and vocal coaching opportunities for singers on summer courses. If your singer wans to take part in these, they can learn a solo song and bring the sheet music with them. More info here
  • (For singers who use EpiPens or inhalers only) Complete your Action Plan: Keep an eye out for an email from our Head of Safeguarding, Joy Brereton, to discuss an EpiPen or inhaler Action Plan. Please complete the Action Plan and return to Joy - or get in touch if you think you've missed an email from us.
  • Arrange transport to and from the course: Families are responsible for organising singers' transport from home to the course, and from the concert venue back home again. Please double check the drop-off and pick-up times and venues carefully.
  • Check the packing list: If you want to get ahead, you can check whether your performance outfit fits and dig our your black folder so you're ready for the summer. View the packing list
  • Monday 1 June, midday - deadline for summer course fee balance payment

Ensemble volunteers are parents of current and past members who kindly assist us in creating a welcoming and inclusive community for all. Launched in 2023, we are looking to expand our current group of wonderful volunteers with more parents who will help host receptions and welcome new parents and their children to the choir.

As an Ensemble Volunteer, you will help us provide a warm welcome to parents, guardians and carers of new members, host special receptions attached to events and concerts that you’re already attending, provide invaluable feedback through online forums, and be general advocates and champions of our work.

Depending on your availability, your duties may include:

  • Helping to host receptions in the spring and the summer – meeting and speaking with other parents and invited guests.
  • Providing a welcome telephone call to 5-6 parents, guardians and carers of new members who successfully audition to join the National Youth Choir in the autumn.
  • Taking part in occasional online forums, providing feedback and testing out new ideas and approaches.
  • Providing advice and support to parents in social media groups and at events.
  • Sharing National Youth Choir news and content across your own social media channels, to help raise the profile and broaden the reach of the organisation.
  • Being advocates and champions of our wider work, future plans and fundraising.
