Hello, and welcome to this wonderful occasion! We are delighted to bring together over 300 singers from National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) today, to perform at Warwick Arts Centre. We are certain it will be a joyous celebration of youth music and our fantastic singing community.

Over the past five days, our singers have worked hard and played hard on three different residential courses, in Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire. This concert is an opportunity for them to perform some of the music they’ve been learning and, crucially, to come together as National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) and lift their voices as one.

You will see lots of brilliant choir leaders take to the stage today, including Matthew Roughley, Mariana Rosas and Patrick Barrett who join us in their new roles as Conductors of National Youth Choir (9-15 Years). They will be working alongside Principal Conductor Lynsey Callaghan, who is responsible for the artistic vision behind today’s concert. We look forward to welcoming Lynsey to her first course with us in the summer.

ROOTS is a musical journey through the folk traditions of Britain, Ireland and North America. We hope this programme will include music you know, music you know but with a twist, and music that is new to you. The pieces we’ve chosen for this concert draw on rich and diverse musical heritage, including stories and songs that have been passed down through generations, but remain relevant today.

If you enjoy today’s concert, please visit our website to join our mailing list so that we can keep you up-to-date on our future performance and youth music opportunities.

We would like to thank all our supporters, and the people who have made this concert possible. Thank you for coming today, and we hope to see you again very soon. Enjoy the concert!
