Do you love choirs? Write to your MP today to relieve pressure on UK choirs and protect choral singing for future generations

Currently orchestras, opera and musical theatre is supported by Government creative tax relief schemes - but choirs are excluded. We're trying to change that.

A tax relief scheme that includes choirs could allow them to reduce their event costs by 26% on average, giving them the security to produce more ambitious concerts and reach more people. Choirs face the same challenges as orchestras and theatre groups - and we know that choral activities can be just as transformative as orchestral and theatre events. So why are choirs not being supported in the same way?

There is a solution: one small policy change would allow choirs to benefit from the existing orchestra tax relief scheme. By adding 'voice' to the list of instruments, the Government could unlock significant funding for choirs at a cost of approximately 1% of the current creative tax relief scheme budget.

On 26 November, the Government will make decisions about the future that could include making choirs eligible for tax relief so we need to make our voices heard now.

You can make a difference by emailing your MP and asking them to raise this issue. You'll be joining together with hundreds of musical organisations (including Making Music and Singing Network UK), choral experts and singers from up and down the country to rally for change.
