Emerging Professional Artists programme

The National Youth Choir exists to provide exciting and inclusive creative opportunities for all young people.

Our Emerging Professional Artists programme, supports choral leaders and composers as they emerge into the professional world. It aims to address inequalities in the music industry by creating professional development pathways for those who are under-represented in choral music.

Welcome to our 2025 Emerging Professional Artists Showcase!

This February, we celebrated the huge successes and invaluable contributions of our outgoing Emerging Professional Artists at an in-person event, and I'm delighted to share the recording of that performance with you here. Watch along for a snapshot into the exciting and dynamic year our 2024 cohort have had, and an introduction to our 2025 cohort of musicians: ten phenomenal artists from across the UK who care passionately about choral music, music education and new music.

Our Emerging Professional Artists schemes offer a fully funded, year-long programme of professional development opportunities to early career professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and musical genres. Our Fellows, Composers and Conductors are at the heart of the National Youth Choir community, working closely with our staff, artists and singers during their year of professional development and beyond.

This year, we are celebrating ten years of our Emerging Professional Artist scheme. Over the past decade, we have worked with 82 artists; we are extremely proud of their many wonderful achievements, and the very many ways in which they continue to enrich the work of National Youth Choir and the wider choral world.
