Experience National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) The National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) is for young people of all genders in school years 5-10 (England & Wales), P5-S3 (Scotland) and P6-Y11 (Northern Ireland). This choir is for unchanged voices (trebles), and young people whose voices are changing. Members of this choir attend up to two residential singing courses each year in the school holidays. We passionately believe that choral singing is for everyone and strongly encourage talented young singers from all backgrounds and musical styles to audition. As a member you’ll have the best choral training possible including unbeatable opportunities to develop skills in music, performance, recording, leadership and teamwork, and to grow in confidence and aspiration. You’ll sing alongside the most gifted young singers in the UK, developing your skills to the highest level, and making life-long friends. As a member of National Youth Choir (9-15 Years), you could be.. Singing on professional recordings Singers aged 9-15 take part in professional-level recordings. The tracks they record are regularly played on national radio and get selected for curated playlists on streaming services. Because National Youth Choir works with composers to commission new music, singers often get to take part in world premiere performances and make 'first ever' recordings of new pieces. Enjoying residential courses In spring and summer, this choir meets for residential courses that last 4-5 days. Singers are looked after by a team of friendly music and pastoral staff to guide their vocal and musical development. They also do a lot of social activities and have a lot of fun! FIND OUT MORE Performing in once-in-a-lifetime concerts National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) perform in amazing venues like Warwick Arts Centre, Birmingham Town Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. They learn a broad range of challenging music, including music in different languages, to develop musical literacy and awareness. Who is National Youth Choir (9-15 Years) for? We are looking for enthusiastic singers of all genders and from all backgrounds, whatever your preferred musical style. Boys and non-binary young people undergoing voice change are encouraged to audition, and will be offered specialist support by National Youth Choir experts on courses. We particularly welcome young people whose backgrounds are currently under-represented in choral music. This includes young people from Black, Asian & global majority backgrounds, Disabled musicians and singers from low-income backgrounds. All singers must be a British citizen or a resident of the UK at the time of audition.
